Five Vehicles Seized, Five Apprehended for Illegal Mineral Transportation in Awantipora

Awantipora, March 02: Continuing its sustained crackdown on illegal mining, Awantipora Police intensified enforcement in the police district Awantipora and seized five vehicles involved in the unlawful transportation of minerals in Datpora and Reshipora areas.

       During the operation, a police team from Police Post Reshipora, led by Incharge PP Reshipora Sub-Inspector Meheraj-ud-Din and functioning under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora, intercepted and seized two loaders, two tractors and one dumper allegedly being used for illegal mineral transport.

       Five individuals were apprehended in connection with the case. They have been identified as Jahangeer Ahmad Bhat of Chakoora Pulwama, Nadeem Ahmad Mir of Litter Pulwama, Sajad Ahmad Dar of Reshipora, Ali Mohammad Dar of Reshipora and Zubair Ahmad Mir of Reshipora.

       In this regard, cases under FIR Nos. 53/2026 and 54/2026 have been registered at Police Station Awantipora under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway.

       Police have appealed to the public to share information regarding illegal mineral extraction or transportation activities in their areas to help curb such unlawful practices.
