Fire damages two cowsheds in Kupwara’s Ramchandra

Handwara, Feb 9: Two double-storey wooden cowsheds were damaged in a fire incident reported at Gugal Wadder area of Zachaldara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday, officials said.

Officials said the fire broke out, following which fire and emergency service units were alerted. Firefighting teams responded promptly and reached the spot within minutes, initiating operations to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further.

Upon arrival, firefighters found two adjacent wooden cowsheds engulfed in flames. The first floor of one cowshed suffered extensive damage, while the second cowshed was partially damaged in the incident.

Officials said the swift and coordinated response by fire service personnel helped bring the fire under control in time, averting a major loss in the densely built rural area.

Preliminary findings suggest that the fire was caused by the reignition of charcoal, officials said, adding that further assessment is being carried out to confirm the exact cause.

No loss of human life was reported in the incident. [KNT]
