EC Tashi takes up the issue of evacuation of stranded people of Zanskar from Leh, Kargil
KARGIL APRIL 19, 2020: Executive Councilor for Zanskar Affairs Er Phunsog Tashi took up the issue of the evacuation of stranded people of Zanskar including students, patients, pilgrims and other people from Leh and Kargil to Zanskar with the Chairman and CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan and District Magistrate (DM) and Chairman DDMA Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary here today.
The EC said that around 1150 people belonging to Zanskar are presently stranded at Leh and around 30 persons at Kargil due to the ongoing lockdown in view of COVID -19 pandemic.
Er Tashi further stated that since agriculture season is in the offing in whole Zanskar area and most of the people are from farming community, they are bound to reach back home to start their agriculture activities.
Both the CEC, LAHDC Kargil and Chairman DDMA Kargil assured the EC of favorable follow-up action in the matter and said that they are presently working on a roadmap to evacuate all the stranded passengers in a phased and systematic manner.
The CEC and the DM Kargil said that as a part of the roadmap, all the stranded passengers of Suru Valley and several other areas have been evacuated from Kargil town today and as such all the stranded passengers belonging to Zanskar at Leh and Kargil should remain ready for their evacuation anytime for which required steps would be taken soon.
