‘Don’t Force Repeat of ‘Operation Sindoor’: Omar Warns Pak

Jammu, April 7: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Tuesday said Pakistan should treat Operation Sindoor as a “sufficient reminder” and questioned why Islamabad was forcing New Delhi into a repeat.

“Operation Sindoor has just been completed. It hasn’t even been a year. Why are they forcing us to remind them of the situation?” Omar told reporters on the sidelines of a function in Jammu, according to Kashmir Convener.

His remarks came as he pointed to the arrest of foreign terrorists in the Union Territory, which he said exposed “gaps” in the official narrative that terrorism was over.

“It’s good that it was busted. But the question arises — where did it come from? Why did it come? Because we are repeatedly told that terrorism has ended. Now there is no trace of it,” he said, calling for increased surveillance to “fill all the gaps and loopholes.”

Hitting out at Pakistan, CM Omar said: “Our planes are still flying. We haven’t told any international airline that we don’t have oil. Look at Pakistan. They have told airlines — come as much as you want, but you have to come with oil, because we can’t provide it here. That is their situation.”

Dismissing cross-border threats to Indian cities, the Chief Minister said: “Kolkata is far away. They reached Jammu with great difficulty. They didn’t cause any major damage in Jammu either. They couldn’t reach the capital of the country. I think they should forget the dream of reaching Kolkata.”

“Their betterment lies in trying to improve relations somehow instead of spoiling them further, because we don’t suffer as much as they do from bad relations. Instead of threatening Kolkata, I think it would be better if they play a role in improving relations,” CM Omar added.

Notably, the remarks came after Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif earlier this month warned India of a strike in Kolkata in response to any “future misadventures.”
