DLSA Bandipora Observes World Day Against Child Labour at Sumbal

Bandipora, June 12: As part of its calendar of activities for June 2025, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Bandipora observed World Day Against Child Labour at Government Girls High School, Sumbal, in coordination with Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC), Sumbal, and in collaboration with the Education Department, Bandipora.

In a statement issued by DLSA, an official spokesperson said the programme was held under the supervision of Chairman, DLSA Bandipora, Khalil Ahmad Choudhary, and the guidance of Secretary, DLSA Bandipora, Mr. Sheikh Babar Hussain, and Chairperson, TLSC Sumbal (Munsiff/JMIC), Ms. Rahila Rashid.

On the occasion, Assistant LADCs Abid Hussain Malla and Nazia Parveen, along with faculty members of the host school, delivered insightful lectures on the issue of child labour.

The speakers elaborated on the constitutional safeguards protecting children, including Article 23 (prohibition of forced labour), Article 24 (prohibition of employment of children in hazardous jobs), and Article 39 (directive principles ensuring children are not abused and are given opportunities for development).

The speakers stressed that children are the building blocks of the nation and must be protected from being subjected to child labour.

They emphasized the collective responsibility of society, institutions, and the legal framework in ensuring every child’s right to education, safety, and dignity.

The event saw active participation from students and staff of Government Girls High School Sumbal, officials from TLSC Sumbal, and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) associated with DLSA.

The observance reinforced the ongoing efforts of the legal services institutions to create awareness and advocate for the eradication of child labour in alignment with national and international commitments.
