Bandipora, November 8: The much-awaited District Table Tennis Championship 2025 began on Saturday at the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium in Bandipora amid great enthusiasm and vibrant participation from young talents across the district.
The event witnessed an impressive turnout of players from various schools and clubs, competing across multiple age categories in both boys and girls divisions.
An official spokesperson said the championship was Organized by the District Table Tennis Association Bandipora and aims to promote grassroots sports and identify promising players who will qualify for the upcoming State Table Tennis Championship.
The opening ceremony was graced by the Second-in-Command, 14 Rashtriya Rifles Bandipora, who attended as the Chief Guest, while Suhail Saeed Lone, Founder and Producer of Taha Film International, joined as the Guest of Honour.
Other dignitaries present included Ayaz Ahmad, In-charge of SK Stadium Bandipora, along with several officials, sports enthusiasts, and local supporters.
In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest lauded the organizers for their efforts in fostering a strong sports culture in the district. “You have done a commendable job and shown great dedication. It’s encouraging to see Bandipora producing state and national-level table tennis players,” he said.
Emphasizing the growing popularity of the sport, he added, “Table tennis is gaining strong momentum across the country, and our youth—including our girls—are bringing laurels at national and international platforms. We must continue this spirit and dedication to take the game to greater heights.”
He further underlined the importance of such events in providing a platform for young athletes to display their talent and strive for excellence. “Tournaments like this not only help children develop discipline and sportsmanship but also inspire them to bring pride to their district, state, and the nation,” he remarked.
The District Table Tennis Championship 2025 stands as a testament to Bandipora’s growing reputation as a nurturing ground for sporting excellence and youth empowerment through sports.
