Bandipora, August 10: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) for North Kashmir Range (NKR) Vinod Kumar on Monday chaired a meeting in Bandipora to review the security preparedness ahead of Independence Day celebrations.
An official spokesperson said a comprehensive security review meeting was held in Bandipora on Monday to review security arrangements for the smooth and peaceful conduct of Independence Day-2026 celebrations across the district.
The meeting attended by Senior Superintendent of Bandipora Police Ajaz Ahmed Zargar and other senior officers of Bandipora Police, Army, CAPFs and other security agencies.
The meeting reviewed the overall security preparedness, with detailed discussions on deployment of personnel, area domination, access control, traffic management, surveillance, checking and frisking, patrolling and coordination among various security agencies.
SSP Bandipora Ajaz Ahmed Zargar briefed the meeting about the security measures already put in place and the preparedness for the days leading up to August 15.
He apprised the officers that intensified naka checking, frisking, patrolling and area domination were being carried out at vulnerable and strategic locations across the police district.
The prevailing security scenario in the district was also reviewed in detail, with emphasis on identifying vulnerable locations and strengthening preventive security measures. Officers discussed operational preparedness and mechanisms to effectively respond to any emerging security challenge.
The DIG North Kashmir Range stressed the need for close coordination, continuous surveillance and timely sharing of intelligence inputs among all security agencies.
He directed the officers to maintain heightened alertness, strengthen security arrangements and ensure effective deployment of personnel during the Independence Day celebrations.
Officials said the meeting concluded with directions for sustained vigilance and coordinated efforts to ensure that the national celebrations are conducted peacefully and without disruption across Bandipora district.
