DGAFMS Attends Indo-Pacific Military Health Exchange Conference in Japan
New Delhi, Dec 8: Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS), represented India at the Indo-Pacific Military Health Exchange (IPMHE) Conference held in Yokohama, Japan, from December 2 to 5, 2025.
Defence Spokesperson to Kashmir Convener that the high-level military medical summit brought together the heads of Armed Forces Medical Services from 23 Indo-Pacific nations, providing a platform to exchange experiences and best practices in operational medicine, combat casualty care, and military medical preparedness.
During the conference, Surgeon Captain Sivam Narayan of the Indian Navy Medical Service (INMS), INHS Asvini, presented a scientific poster on “Challenges of Nuclear Diving,” highlighting the medical complexities and safety considerations associated with deep-sea nuclear diving operations.
The technical sessions covered a wide range of subjects, including operational medicine and combat casualty care, military medical research and innovations, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operations, global health security, and health systems strengthening.
Apart from participating in the plenary discussions, the DGAFMS attended breakout sessions and held bilateral meetings with counterparts from several countries, exploring opportunities for future cooperation, joint training, knowledge exchange and collaborative research in military medicine.
Officials said India’s participation in the IPMHE reaffirmed the country’s commitment to advancing regional cooperation in military healthcare, disaster response preparedness, and global health security across the Indo-Pacific region.
