Decision on allowing Muharram processions to be discussed in Monday’s high-level meeting

Srinagar, July 23: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, is scheduled to lead a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar on Monday to assess and review the arrangements for the upcoming observance of Muharram.

According to sources alongside the preparations, the meeting will also deliberate on whether to permit Muharram processions amid considerations of security and public safety.

          Sources said LG Sinha will chair the high-level meeting tomorrow in Civil Secretariat Srinagar at around 11 am. 

Key officials from the civil and police administration, including Chief Secretary and Director General of Police, along with several Principal Secretaries and other officers, will be present during the crucial meeting .

          "A decision whether to allow Muharram processions is also likely to be taken in the meeting," they said. 

          Meanwhile, sources said that the administration has also invited All J&K Shia Association president Imran Reza Ansari, Anjuman Sharie Shian president Aga Syed Hassan and Anjuman Sharie Shian Darul Mustafa president Aga Syed Haadi for the meeting. (KNS)
