DDC Polls: Prof Mustafa Khan, a new face defeats Apni Party candidate in Bandipora

Bandipora, Dec 24 : A Professor and the founding member of JKPM, Gulam Mustafa Khan has won Hajin-B district Development Council seat and defeated Apni party candidate in north Kashmir's Bandipora district

Gulam Mustafa Khan joined JKPM party in 2019 in presence of Shah Faisal and before that he was working as a professor in a government college.

Khan, who was contesting on the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) seat from Hajin-B won by 2047 votes and that it was his first election and a competition with even bigger candidates including Apni Party. Khan defeated Apni Party candidate Javid Ahamad Mir and other three independent candidates.

While taking with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Khan said that before joining politics he saw people being disrespected everywhere which he could not bear and was forced to quit his job and enter politics.

He said that people were being misled, especially from his area. “When I decided to get into politics, people welcomed me very well and then they promised me that they would make me successful and give me the full opportunity to serve them,” he said.

He further said that, “It's always what people want and the people in my area understood who they wanted to succeed and who didn't because they have always been deceived, they have always been lied to while votes have been taken from them".

"We have a very large area like Aragam and Ajas that have not been developed at all yet people there are thirsty for the hospital, roads and electricity, this is because the leaders here have always betrayed people," he said. “We stand side by side with the Gupkar Alliance until we bring back Article 370 and 35A while the people of Kashmir have also given their full support to PGAD during DDC elections,” he added—(KNO)
