DDC Bandipora unfurls tricolor in Bandipora, 73rd Republic Day celebrated across district

Bandipora, 26 Jan: Like other parts of the state and country, the 73th Republic Day was celebrated at Bandipora with enthusiasm, traditional fervor and gaiety here on Wednesday.
The main function of 73rd Republic Day was held at SK Stadium Bandipora where Chairman District Development Council Abdul Gani Bhat unfurled the flag and inspected the parade.
Deputy Commissioner Bandipira Dr Owais Ahmad, SSP Bandipora, Mohammad Zahid, Vice Chairperson DDC, Kounser Shafeeq, ADC Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Joint Director, Planning, Imtiyaz Ahmad, officers of civil administration, police, army, besides Panchayat representatives were present on the occasion.
The march-past was presented by the contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, NCC cadets and students from different schools also took part in the event.
The DDC Chairperson gave the historical background of the Republic Day and said that Republic Day is the most significant day in the history of the country as the country has become Republic on this day and the Constitution of India, the basic framework of governance framed by great leader B.R. Ambedkar was implemented from this Day.
Gani while Recalling the sacrifices of great leaders of the country for strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and amity said that leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, J.L. Nehru laid a strong edifice for brotherhood, amity and communal harmony besides for the composite culture of the country.
Addressing the gathering, the DDC Bandipora highlighted the importance of the day and highlighted the achievements registered in the district. He said the current financial year witnessed major developmental activities in the district despite major challenges of COVID19 pandemic.
HE congratulated District Administration for receiving E-Governance award during 24th National conference on e- Governance held at Hyderabad, Telangana. He also made special mention of Martial Artist and renowned sportsperson Faisal Ali Dar who was conferred Padma Shri on the eve of Republic Day by the Government of India.
Later, students of various schools, police personals presented a scintillating cultural bonanza on the occasion. The programme received a great applause from the audience particularly.
Additional District Development Commissioner Bandipora Ali Afsar Khan unfurled the tricolor at Mini Secretariat Bandipora. On the occasion all senior officers of the district and other senior officers were present. Similar programs were also held across the district at Sub-Divisional level in Gurez and Sumbal, wherein Chief Guests unfurled the national flag and took salute on the march past. Tri Color was also unfurled in all High Schools, Higher Secondaries, District Hospital Bandipora, Degree Colleges, government offices, Panchayat Ghars and Municipal Buildings. In Gurez the heavy snowfall couldn’t deter locals to stay indoors but came in numbers to celebrate the day along with army.
Later the DDC gave away the prizes to contingents and students who performed best in the parade and cultural programme. The awards were also given to students for their outstanding performance in the academics during the year.
Kashmir convener Correspondent Suhail Rather was also felicitated on this occassion.
