DDAC Bandipora organises mega awareness program on drug abuse
Bandipora, Feb 05: District Drug De-Addiction Centre (DDAC), in collaboration with District Administration Bandipora, organised a Mega Awareness Programme at the ICDS Centre in Malangam on Monday.
The initiative, led by DC Bandipora, Dr. Shakeel ul Rehman Rather, and guided by DSWO Bandipora, Hidaitullah Mir, aimed at raising awareness about the pervasive issue of drug abuse.
The day-long event saw active participation from frontline workers, including ICDS, ASHAA, PRIs, health workers, youth, and the general public. The program was tailored to sensitize these crucial stakeholders, equipping them with insights into the challenges posed by drug abuse in the community.
Rehana Akhter, Manager DDAC Bandipora, spearheaded the program, ensuring a focused approach towards disseminating information. The speakers, including Adv. Mudasir Wani, Counselor DDAC, addressed various facets of drug abuse. Adv. Wani provided a comprehensive overview of the signs and symptoms, emphasizing the immediate assistance available at DDAC. He highlighted the array of free-of-cost services, such as treatment, rehabilitation, and counseling, catering to both indoor and outdoor patients.
Mr. Jawahar Ahmad, ORW, DDAC, stressed the importance of collaborative efforts in tackling the menace. He underscored the role of individuals and society as a collective force in combatting and eradicating this societal challenge.
Farhat Zahoor, YT, DDAC, brought attention to the mental health aspects associated with drug abuse. Focusing on the significance of meditation and exercises to reduce stress and depression, she offered holistic insights into combating these challenges.
The event received widespread acclaim from participants, reflecting the community's recognition of the urgency in addressing drug-related issues. To extend the impact, the team distributed informative posters and initiated a door-to-door campaign in the Malangam area. This hands-on approach aimed to solidify their commitment to raising awareness and fostering adrug-free society.
