Bandipora, August 8: A Day After joining as Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, on Friday held first-of-its-kind meeting with female employees of the district at the Mini Secretariat Bandipora
An official spokesperson said the meeting aimed at assessing the gender issues and seeking suggestions for the resolution of the same, marking a significant step towards inclusive and gender-responsive governance.
During the interaction, the Deputy Commissioner engaged with all the female participants, listened attentively to their concerns, and assured them of the administration’s full support in addressing genuine issues affecting their work environment.
Emphasizing the need to create a more enabling workplace, Indu Kanwal Chib directed the concerned officers to ensure proper sanitation facilities, including the provision of separate washrooms for female staff, and a dedicated prayer hall for women.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner also laid stress on ensuring safe and reliable transport facilities for all employees commuting from various parts of the district. To ease daily commuting challenges, the DC instructed that transport arrangements be made from key locations such as Kaloosa Bridge, Nussoo Sumo Stand, and Gulshan Chowk to the Mini Secretariat.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated her commitment to fostering a work environment where all employees, particularly women, feel safe, respected, and empowered.
The meeting witnessed active participation from women employees across different departments who expressed appreciation for the platform and shared suggestions aimed at improving work conditions and productivity.
Meanwhile the female employees hailed the Deputy Commissioner for meeting them on the day-one of her postings. “This is for the first time any deputy commissioner has called us to her office and listened to our gender specific issues at work. It was a warm gesture that gave us hope for a safer workplace and much motivation and positive thoughts,” said one of the attendees.
