DC Bandipora Inspects Post-Snowfall Situation, visits far-flung areas
Bandipora, Jan 29: Following fresh snowfall in higher reaches, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Shakeel Ul Rehman Rather, today conducted a thorough inspection of the post-snowfall situation and ongoing snow clearance operations on the Bandipora-Gurez road at various spots.
The DC, alongwith a team of officers including ADC Bandipora Umar Shafi, personally visited Bandipora -Gurez road to assess the situation on the ground.
The DC interacted with officials involved in the snow clearance efforts and sought feedback regarding various aspects related to the management of the road during snowfall. The DC directed the concerned authorities to continue snow clearance operations in all the affected areas
DC assured that the district administration is committed to providing all necessary assistance and support during challenging times and Control Rooms at District, Sub Division and field level have been activated and men & machinery of various departments are on active stand-by mode.
Pertinently, Gurez Sub Division of the district has received around 7 inch overnight snowfall and Razdan Pass around 2ft leading to the closure of Bandipora-Gurez Road. Men and machinery of MED have been pressed into service since early in the morning to clear internal link roads of Gurez. Mainland areas of the district have received light rainfall, and as such, no disruptions to essential services have been witnessed.
