CSIR-IIIM celebrates National Technology Day 2023 by organizing Hackathon 2.0 for startups at Udhampur

Udhampur, 12.05.2023: To commemorate National Technology Day, CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu organized Hackathon 2.0 at Government Degree College (Boys), Udhampur. The programme was organized under the Patronage of Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director, CSIR-IIIM, Jammu. Hackathon 2.0 offered a platform to the local startups of Jammu region  to share their business ideas which have potential to be converted into promising products / technologies. The viability of their business ideas was evaluated by a Jury composed of scientists, academicians and domain experts.
 
Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director, CSIR-IIIM, Jammu, in his message, conveyed that such Hackathon are very important to develop a strong network with the local startups working in the field of Biotechnology & Life Sciences. Director informed that CSIR-IIIM, Jammu is continuously working towards building the strong startup ecosystem in J&K region. In this connection, CSIR-IIIM is also organising a Startup Conclave in Udhampur wherein over 60 startups, 500 farmers, 1200 students of Udhampur region will participate in the gala event.  

Hackathon 2.0 was organized by CSIR-IIIM, Jammu at GDC (Boys), Udhampur as the outcome of the Entrepreneurial Road Shows conducted recently by CSIR-IIIM Incubator at various Colleges / institutes at Udhampur. During the Hackathon pitching session, 32 groups of 75 participants pitched their business ideas related to herbal drugs, natural cosmetics, medicinal plants, aroma products, waste to wealth, medicinal mushrooms and application-based software. Based on the evaluation of the jury, top three business ideas were recognized and awarded as winners of Hackathon.
  
The valedictory session started with a welcome note by Prof. Romesh Atri, Associate Professor, GDC (Boys), Udhampur, followed by a presentation by Er. Ankush Varma, Coordinator IIIM-TBI, CSIR- IIIM, Jammu, who briefed the proceeding of the event.

Dr. Saurabh Saran, Principal Scientist & PI, IIIM-TBI, CSIR-IIIM, Jammu emphasized that there is a lot of talent in Jammu & Kashmir that needs to come in mainstream.  He further emphasized that the purpose of such Hackthon is to connect the promising startups with the various opportunities/initiatives offered by the Government of India.
