Bandipora, Sept 23: A pall of gloom descended on Madar Bandipora after the sudden demise of police personnel Shafkat Rashid Wani, popularly known as Sahba, who passed away late Monday night following a massive heart attack.
Family sources said Wani, son of Ab Rashid Wani, had returned home from his duty in Shopian on Monday evening. At around 10 pm, he complained of acute chest pain and was shifted to the District Hospital Bandipora, where he underwent several medical tests. Doctors discharged him after the reports came out negative. However, at around 1 am, his condition worsened and he was rushed back to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Wani is survived by his wife, one daughter and two sons. His sudden death has shocked the family, neighbours and colleagues, leaving the entire locality in mourning.
Locals described him as a well-mannered, humble and respectable figure, remembered for his kindness and good nature. Colleagues in the police department also expressed deep sorrow at his passing.
Hundreds of people from across the area are visiting the bereaved family to offer condolences and prayers.
