Congress workers, political activists join PDP in Bandipora: Spokesperson
Bandipora, March 20: People’s Democratic Party on Wednesday said that dozens of prominent Congress workers along with their supporters joined their party.
In a statement issued today, spokesperson of the party in Bandipora said that the Congress party received a jolt after some of its prominent workers and political activists from Benlipora and Ketsen joined the PDP at district office Bandipora in presence of senior PDP leader and former MLA Nizamuddin Bhat.
Local Gujjar leader Mohammad Mirza Khan, Reyaz Ahmad and office bearers Mohammad Maqbool Khan and Inam-ul-Haq were also present on the occasion.
He said the new entrants were welcomed into the party fold by senior PDP leader Nizamuddin Bhat and described the event as another leap forward in the rising popularity of PDP in Bandipora. “Today’s event is the third such big event which has come as a big boost to the party”.
Speaking on the occasion Bhat hoped that the party will further grow to serve people of the state under the inspiring and dynamic leadership of Mehbooba Mufti. He recalled her role in Kashmir’s politics as one who alone stands up in crisis and difficult times against tyranny and for healing and relief.
“Prominent members from Gujjar community who joined the PDP here pleaded faith in party leader and president Mehboobaji and party's people-friendly agenda,” spokesperson added.
