Chota Amarnath Yatra Begins in Bandipora

70 Pilgrims Trek 15-Kms through Shamthan Hills to Reach Chota Amarnath Holy Cave

 

Bandipora, August 9:  The Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, along with SSP Bandipora Harmeet Singh Mehta, on Saturday flagged off the procession of pilgrims to the Chota Amarnath Yatra. Pilgrims from different areas, including Kashmiri Pandits from Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, participated in the event.

This year, around 70 pilgrims were permitted to undertake the pilgrimage.

The 15-kilometre Yatra started from Kaloosa in the morning, where participants were flagged off towards Arin Dardpora, the starting point of the trek. From there, the route proceeds through Shamthan to Chota Amarnath in the forests of Arin.

A Kashmiri Pandit woman said she was participating in the Yatra for the first time and expressed gratitude to the administration for arrangements.

She said they would pray for peace, brotherhood, and a peaceful return of the community to the region.

Officers from the district administration, volunteers, and senior citizens of the town were present.
The Chota Amarnath Yatra involves a visit to the holy cave, regarded as a place of worship for Lord Shiva in Arin Dardpora, Bandipora.

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Indu Kanwal Chib said that the Yatra would be conducted with proper security cover and all essential arrangements are well in advance .

She added that the Yatra will be held for one day and expressed hope it will take place in peaceful circumstances.she congratulations to pandiths
