Uri, June 13: In a humanitarian gesture aimed at addressing the critical shortage of blood supply in frontier areas, the Dagger Division under the aegis of Chinar Corps organised a voluntary blood donation camp in Uri on Thursday.

The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from 98 donors, including serving Army personnel, local civilians, students, and teachers, who came forward to contribute to the cause. The event was conducted under strict medical supervision with all safety protocols in place, ensuring proper post-donation care for all volunteers.

Officials said the drive was aimed at promoting voluntary blood donation in a region that lacks a dedicated blood bank and often faces serious challenges in emergency medical scenarios.

“This initiative reflects the Indian Army’s commitment to the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, beyond its role as a security force,” a spokesperson said.

The event also served as a symbol of the enduring trust and goodwill between the armed forces and the local community. Local participants appreciated the effort, calling it a “lifesaving mission that bridges the gap between uniformed personnel and civilians.”

As the region continues to grapple with healthcare gaps, such initiatives are being lauded as vital contributions toward building a stronger and more resilient society.
