Srinagar, Jan 14: The Chinar Corps on Tuesday celebrated Defence Forces Veterans’ Day at the Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre, Srinagar, honouring the service and sacrifice of ex-servicemen, Veer Matas, Veer Naris, and gallantry awardees.
Observed annually on January 14 to commemorate the superannuation of Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces, the day recognises the contributions of soldiers who have served the nation with pride.
The event was attended by GOC Chinar Corps, senior officials, veterans, and their families. Despite the severe cold, veterans actively participated and engaged with officials, receiving information about various welfare schemes implemented by the central and UT governments.
Chinar Corps Commander felicitated the attendees, acknowledging their dedication and sacrifices, and assured continued support from both the Army and the administration.
