Capacity Building Programme on Women-Centric Schemes Held at Pulwama

Pulwama, Dec 31: A one-day capacity building programme on women-centric schemes was organized by Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women (Mission Shakti) at Circuit House, Pulwama, aimed at enhancing the skills of frontline workers and women Self Help Group (SHG) members to effectively access and implement government welfare initiatives.
The programme brought together frontline workers of Mission Poshan Pulwama, including Supervisors and Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), ASHA workers, and women members of SHGs under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). Resource persons from various departments, including the Department of Handicrafts, JK Women’s Development Corporation, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, and the Department of Employment and Counseling, provided training on the availability and implementation of various women-centric schemes.
Speaking at the event, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Azhar Amin emphasized the significance of such programmes in reaching communities effectively. He highlighted the pivotal role of women and the social welfare department in the successful implementation of welfare schemes at the grassroots level.
District Mission Coordinator Mansha apprised participants of ongoing schemes under the Social Welfare Department, aiming to enhance their understanding and capacity to disseminate information among community members. The sessions focused on women empowerment, safety, economic independence, and leadership development, equipping participants to act as change agents within their communities.
The programme covered a comprehensive range of government initiatives to ensure that participants could assist community members in availing benefits, improving livelihoods, and accessing their rights. Feedback from attendees indicated a strong positive impact, with many expressing increased confidence in becoming self-reliant and catalyzing social change in their respective areas.
The capacity-building initiative is part of ongoing efforts by Mission Shakti and allied departments to strengthen community engagement, empower women, and ensure effective delivery of government welfare schemes across Pulwama district.
