Brar-Malikpora road in shambles; locals demand macdamization

Bandipora, April 05: Residents of this north Kashmir's village are facing massive ordeal as most of the roads of this village are dotted with potholes and the department concerned is giving deaf ears to their pleas.

The residents of Brar, Malikpora Bandipora are up in arms against the Roads and Buildings department for failing to repair and widening of the Brar-Malikpora road subjecting the residents of a dozen villages to extreme hardships due to the dilapidated condition of the road.

Locals said that the 2-kilometers stretch road from Brar Main stop to Malikpora Chitteybandy is in shambles and dotted with potholes giving trouble to the travelers. The road also leads to the famous Shrine. They said that the distance that can be covered in ten minutes is covered in more than half an hour owing to potholes all over the road.

Mudasir Ahmad Sofi a resident of Brar said that they are suffering due to the indifferent attitude of the local administration towards the village and they are least bothered about their health and hygiene as bumpy roads have become hazardous for them. “We are facing serious problems from past 5 years due to the dilapidated condition of vital road stretch from Brar to Malikpora chitteybandy,” he said adding that few people have also encroached the half portion of road due to which not even two vehicles can pass at a time.

Gowher Ahmad, another local of the Malikpora village said the condition of the road from Brar is in deplorable condition and it is painful for them especially patients. “The half portion of road was macdamized before a few years but now the whole stretch of road got damaged. Since then, nobody is paying any attention towards it and the road is in shambles,” the locals said.

Locals urged authorities to look into the matter and macdamize the road at an earliest. Residents urge the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora to look into the matter on priority basis.
