B’Pora Police Make First-Ever Educational Outreach in Gurez

Bandipora, Oct 3: In a historic outreach under the Civic Action Programme, the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Second Border Battalion distributed school bags and stationery items to students at Government Middle School Tarbal, the last village along the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez Valley, Bandipora district, on Friday.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, who warmly welcomed the initiative, noting that it was the first such event in their village since Independence.

Speaking to the media, an officer from the Second Border Battalion said the distribution, organized in memory of martyr Captain Toshyar Mahajan and with support from Padampur Sewa Wadi, Jammu Kashmir Ladakh, and Jammu Kashmir Udyan, included notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, and other gift items. He added that the Battalion has been supporting children in border schools for the past 18 years to instill patriotism and provide educational support.

Residents expressed heartfelt gratitude, emphasizing the significance of the initiative for their community and children.

Spokesperson said the drive not only brought smiles to the students but also strengthened the bond between the security forces and the local population, highlighting a positive step toward addressing educational needs and motivating youth in this remote border region.
