The Block Diwas is observed to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for accurate and on ground assessment and redressal of the same thereby providing governance to the public at their door steps.

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad attended the Block Diwas at Mini Secretariat Bandipora and held Public Grievance Camp. He interacted with the public besides reviewing the developmental activities taking place in the block.

Dozens of delegations including representatives newly elected members of District Development Councils, BDC chairpersons and other members of Panchayat Raj Institutions besides scores of individuals called on the DC and apprised him about the problems faced by them in day to day life.

The delegations raised issues of their respective areas including that of road connectivity, drinking water supply, MGNERGA, Health Cards, snow clearance, pending payments of MGNREGA and other works, requirement of electric poles, issues of Health centres and schools besides availability of essential commodities. While appealing the people to participate in the block diwas to put forward their grievances DC Bandipora said the advantage of block diwas is that government comes at the doorstep of people to listen to them and  so that they are not forced to visit government offices. He said conducting of public outreach programmes provides an important feedback for the government to tailor its interventions for the public good and reach to the doorstep of the people instead of them visiting the corridors of power in secretariat or other government offices.

Dr Owais said the government officers have left their offices and reached to the people across the district to listen to their grievances and get on-spot feedback of the service delivery system at grass roots level. He said reaching out to the people has established an efficient and effective grievance redress mechanism which is being monitored at different levels.
