Srinagar, Sep 21: BJP legislators on Monday staged a protest inside the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly as the autumn session began, raising demands related to NHM employees, electricity consumers and daily-wage workers.
The BJP members held placards demanding justice for NHM employees, withdrawal of the increased power tariff and regularisation of daily wagers. They sought government intervention on the pending concerns of NHM personnel and measures to address the grievances of daily-wage workers.
The legislators also objected to the prevailing power tariff structure and demanded a rollback of the hike, making it one of the prominent issues raised by the party during the opening proceedings.
The protest came amid the BJP’s stated plans to highlight employment-related concerns, outsourcing, electricity charges and other public issues during the session.
The Speaker intervened and directed that the protest-related matter should neither form part of the official proceedings nor be reported.
