Bharti Foundation announces Changemaker Awards for outstanding contributions to CSR

Srinagar, Jan 05: Bharti Foundation's Changemaker Awards celebrated outstanding contributions to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at both national and international levels. 

The ceremony, attended by key figures including Rakesh Bharti Mittal and Mamta Saikia, honored 27 winners across six categories, chosen from 85 nominations spanning various sectors such as healthcare, education, environment, livelihood, and sports.

In the category of Individual Philanthropy National, notable awardees included Popat Chandu Rasal from Sterlite Technologies Limited, recognized for planting over 20,000 indigenous trees, and Sudarshan Bengani from Airtel Payments Bank Limited, commended for consistent contributions to community services.

Under Social Initiative National, initiatives like Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation's "Medical PODS" and Signify Innovations India Limited's "Khel Jyoti" project were applauded for addressing health infrastructure deficits and encouraging sports in rural areas.

Avaya India Pvt. Ltd. received recognition for its "Road to Career" initiative, focusing on skill-building opportunities and increasing employability among marginalized youth and adolescents.

In the Employee Engagement Award category, Bharti Realty, Del Monte Foods, and Beetel Teletech Ltd. were acknowledged for their efforts in payroll giving and supporting education for underprivileged children.

Harifidy Rakotobe (Airtel Madagascar S.A.), Michael Opwonyo (Airtel Uganda Ltd.), and Anne Njeri (Airtel Kenya Networks Limited) were honored for their contributions to Individual Philanthropy International.

Additional awards were presented to Airtel Nigeria, Airtel Kenya Networks Limited, Airtel Tanzania Limited, Airtel Networks Zambia PLC, and employees from various Airtel circles in India for their exemplary contributions to Sustainable Development Goals.

 Mamta Saikia, CEO of Bharti Foundation, emphasized the power of transformative and sustainable practices, expressing that the Changemaker Awards stand as a testimony to the collective efforts of individuals and corporates in creating a positive impact on society through their exemplary work.

Established in 2008, the Changemaker Awards acknowledge commendable efforts toward Sustainable Development Goals and provide a common platform for applicants to showcase their work in community transformation, environmental initiatives, and volunteering programs, making a meaningful difference in society.
