Srinagar, Feb 25: Bharti Airtel has strengthened its partnership with Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) to deploy Ericsson’s high-performance 5G Core network solutions, enhancing connectivity for millions of Airtel customers across India. The collaboration will enable Airtel to transition seamlessly to a full-scale 5G Standalone network, unlocking advanced capabilities for users and enterprises.
Randeep Sekhon, CTO of Bharti Airtel, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating that the deployment of Ericsson’s 5G Core solutions will be a key pillar in Airtel’s long-term 5G strategy, enhancing network capacity and enabling innovative services. Andres Vicente, Head of Market Area Southeast Asia, Oceania, and India at Ericsson, highlighted that this deployment will future-proof Airtel’s network while unlocking new monetization opportunities through network slicing and API-based services.
As part of the agreement, Ericsson will integrate its Signaling Controller solution and 5G Standalone-enabled Charging and Policy solutions within Airtel’s network. This strategic upgrade is expected to boost Airtel’s 5G monetization efforts by enabling new business models and innovative use cases.
Ericsson and Bharti Airtel share a longstanding partnership of over 25 years, spanning multiple generations of mobile communications, including Airtel’s first 5G contract in India. This latest collaboration marks another milestone in their commitment to advancing India’s 5G landscape.
