Bandipora, May 30: The residents of several localities of Bandipora town on Tuesday alleged that they are facing severe difficulties due to the absence of a dustbin in their area while the door to door collection isn’t taking place regularly.

Locals said the accumulation of garbage has become a major concern, prompting the community to appeal for immediate action to resolve the issue.

The residents said they are distressed by the lack of a convenient waste disposal system, as the previously installed dustbins were inexplicably removed and relocated to a distant location while the door to door collection isn’t possible in inner localities.

“This relocation has resulted in significant hardships for the people of Ward No. 6 (Jamia Qadeem), causing inconvenience and health risks,” they added.

One concerned citizen, Fatima Begum, expressed her distress over the situation, particularly during the warm season when the oppressive heat intensifies the foul odor emanating from the unattended waste.

She warned of potential health hazards and the increased risk of diseases in the area with increase in temperature.

Another resident, Famida, highlighted the impracticality of the current dustbin's placement, as it is situated far from Ward No. 6.

The residents find it arduous to transport their garbage to distant locations, further exacerbating the problem. Famida pleaded with the ward's sanitary officer to identify a more suitable location for a dustbin within their community.

Realizing the urgent need for a resolution, the residents of Ward No. 6 now call upon the local authorities to promptly address the matter.

They implore the concerned officials to install a new dustbin in their area at the earliest convenience to mitigate the challenges posed by unmanaged waste.
