Bandipora, March 8: On International Women's Day, Bandipora has been honoured with two Nari Shakti Puraskar 2024 awards.
Ishrat Ayoub, Centre Administrator of Sakhi One Stop Centre Bandipora, and Rehana Akhter, Manager of District Drug De-Addiction Centre Bandipora, were individually honored with this prestigious accolade.
The awards were conferred upon SAKHI-One Stop Centre Bandipora and Drug De-Addiction Centre (DDAC) Bandipora, recognizing their exceptional contributions to women's welfare and combating substance abuse, respectively.
Managed by the Department of Social Welfare, District Administration Bandipora both projects have been recognized for their outstanding services by a leading Mumbai-based publishing house, Kashmira Purawasini Publications.
Officials said Sakhi- One Stop Centre in Bandipora serves as a sanctuary for women impacted by violence, providing comprehensive support and redressal services.
On the other hand, the District Drug De-Addiction Centre is a significant milestone in combating drug addiction and promoting overall well-being, established under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction.
Spokesperson informed that Both centers, outsourced and managed by the J&K Students Welfare Mission, have received recognition not only at the district and UT levels but also nationally. SAKHI-One Stop Centre Bandipora was previously awarded the UT Level Best Performing OSC Award in 2022, along with several other district and UT level accolades, highlighting its exemplary services.
Expressing gratitude Nisar Ahmad, Vice Chairman, JKSWM, emphasized the significance of the recognition, stating that it is an honor for Bandipora to bring laurels at both regional and national levels.
He expressed his gratitude to the entire District Administration Bandipora and Department of Social Welfare, Bandipora for their kind support, coordination and all time cooperation to these centres.
