Bandipora Market Inspection: 30 kg Unfit Food Seized, ₹7,800 Fine Imposed

Bandipora, March 16: A joint inspection team conducted a market inspection in Bandipora town on Monday and imposed a fine of ₹7,800 on several food business operators for violating food safety and hygiene norms, officials said.

During the drive, around 30 kilograms of deteriorated and unfit food items were seized and destroyed on the spot to prevent their sale to consumers.

The inspection was carried out under the supervision of Tehsildar Bandipora, Firdous Ahmad Qadri.

The team comprised officials from the Revenue Department, Food Safety Department, Police Department, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD), Animal Husbandry Department and the Municipal Committee Bandipora.

Officials said the inspection was conducted to ensure compliance with food safety regulations, maintain hygiene standards in food establishments and monitor adherence to market rules.

During the inspection, several food business establishments were checked and violations related to food safety and sanitation were detected. The team imposed a total fine of ₹7,800 on erring food business operators for non-compliance with the prescribed guidelines.

Officials said the deteriorated food items found during the inspection were seized and disposed of immediately to safeguard public health.

 

The inspection team also interacted with shopkeepers and food vendors, advising them to maintain proper hygiene, store food items appropriately and ensure that only quality and safe food products are sold to consumers.

 

         Authorities urged traders and food business operators to follow the regulations strictly and maintain cleanliness in their establishments.

 

Officials said such inspections are conducted regularly to monitor market practices and ensure that consumers are provided safe and hygienic food products.

 

         They added that similar inspection drives will continue in the future to strengthen enforcement of food safety standards and ensure consumer protection in the district.
