Bandipora Concludes Sewa Parv, Swachhta Hi Seva on Gandhi Jayanti

Bandipora, October 03: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Bandipora district marked the conclusion of the two-week long Sewa Parv and Swachhta Hi Seva 2025, celebrated with enthusiasm and wide community participation.

          Across the fortnight, cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns, and cultural activities were organized, focusing on sanitation, plastic-free markets, conservation of water bodies, and source segregation of waste. In Sumbal, drives were conducted at the Municipal Office, Jhelum waterbodies, President Sumo Stand, and Main Bazar, along with awareness programmes by WUCMA and a painting competition on waste segregation.

          On the closing day, Safai Mitras and student volunteers were felicitated for their selfless contribution, reflecting the true spirit of Seva and Swachhta.

          As part of the conclusion, Special Gram Sabhas were organized across all tribal Panchayats of Bandipora district, providing a platform for citizen participation and review of welfare schemes.

          At Kudara, Deputy Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib presided over a Gram Sabha under the Aadi Karam Yogi Abhiyan, directly engaging with the public and reaffirming the administration’s commitment to inclusive and responsive governance.

          The fortnight-long campaign in Bandipora and across the nation echoed Gandhiji’s ideals of dignity in labour, public participation, and collective responsibility. With the spirit of “Swachhta is Seva, Seva is Swabhiman,” Bandipora district continues its journey towards a cleaner, healthier, and more responsible society.
