Bandipora Admin takes a tough stance against land grabbing Won’t Spare those encroached govt land: DC Bandipora
Bandipora Feb 16 : The Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shakeel Ul Rehman Rather Friday vowed to protect the Govt land from illegal encroachments and hinted at launching a crackdown on encroachments of the Govt Land stating that no one will be spared.
He was chairing a meeting of revenue officers at the mini Secretariat to review the status of various revenue matters including the status of removal of encroachment.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Umar Shafi Pandit, ACR Bandipora Shabir Ahmad Wani, Sub Divisional Magistrates in virtual mode, Tehsildars and other concerned.
The Deputy Commissioner took a review of Digitization of Jamabandis, Encroachment, PSGA Services, E-office in revenue offices, Pending Mutations, Allotment of land to landless , encroachment and other related issues.
The Deputy Commissioner, on the occasion, said that revenue officers/officials are custodian of Government Land, and we must take care of it with added responsibility.
While reviewing the status of encroachment, the Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned revenue officers to take strict action in cases of encroachment of Government Land(s) and ensure that no Government land is encroached.
Last Month Jammu and Kashmir government launched an investigation into the alleged land grab by way of encroachments and change of land title in Bandipora Market. Role of some government officials is also under scanner in 'facilitating' or ignoring these illegal acts.
District Vigilance Officer Bandipora Umar Shafi Pandit has already constituted a two member team of senior revenue officers who shall thoroughly investigate the matter. According to officials, the report is soon being submited.
According to the official sources, massive land grabbing, illegal encroachments and change of land titles in Bandipora town, especially commercial hub of the town, have come to fore during scrutiny of papers obtained through Right to Information (RTI) Act after which the investigation was launched.
During the review meeting on Friday, Shakeel ul Rehman stressed upon revenue officials to meet the timeline of online services as per the public Service Guarantee Act. and ensure that no service is provided in offline mode, which is available on the online portal. He also warned that strict action shall be taken against officers and officials not adhering to the PSGA timelines.
