Gurez, Jan 09: The Bagtore-Kanzalwan road in the Gurez valley of North Kashmir's Bandipora district is in a dilapidated condition, posing a significant threat to commuters, locals claimed here Tuesday.

Locals in Bagtore village have expressed their grievances, blaming the District Administration Bandipora for neglecting the urgent need for repairs on this vital route. Residents said that a water pipeline leak, unaddressed for about a month, has now led to the freezing of the road in the Nai Basti area. "This has created hazardous conditions for those traveling to Bagtore, especially during freezing temperatures," they said.

Ghulam Mohammad, a local resident, highlighted the daily struggle faced by the community, stating, "We have to push vehicles every day, and the deteriorating stretch of more than 50 feet is now becoming a significant concern for residents," he said.

Despite bringing the issue to the attention of the authorities multiple times, locals feel that their concerns have been overlooked, with little interest shown in resolving the persisting issues. Meanwhile, an official said that the road will be repaired in the summer.
