Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse Held in Bandipora

Bandipora: The Chemists and Distributors Association Bandipora (CDAB), in collaboration with the Drug and Food Control Department, organized an awareness programme on drug abuse and the importance of valid prescriptions on Wednesday at the Auditorium Hall in Kaloosa.

The event was chaired by Assistant Drug Controller Bandipora, Dr. Shabir Ahmad. Other dignitaries in attendance included DCO Bandipora Bilal Ahmad, DDAC Dr. Anjum Reshi, CDAB President Mazharul Haq, CDAB General Secretary Aseer Ali, CDAB Hajin representative Shahbaz Ahmad, CDAB Aloosa representative Nazir Ahmad, and CDAB Tehsil Bandipora representative Irfan Ahmad Haji.

Dr. Shabir Ahmad emphasized the collective responsibility of society in tackling the menace of drug addiction. He urged individuals and institutions to work together to address this growing challenge.

Speakers at the event highlighted the dangers of substance abuse, particularly for the youth, who represent the largest and most vulnerable population segment in the country. “Substance abuse has emerged as a pressing issue, threatening the well-being and prosperity of our nation. Adopting a disciplined lifestyle can play a key role in combating this menace,” one of the speakers remarked.

The organizers stressed that the primary aim of the programme was to educate young people about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of using valid medical prescriptions. They highlighted the role of such initiatives in empowering youth to make informed decisions and resist negative peer influences.

Representatives of the Chemists and Druggists Association were advised to ensure that drugs are sold responsibly to customers in adherence to regulatory guidelines, as this is crucial in combating drug abuse in society.

The event was attended by representatives from the Chemists and Druggists Association of Bandipora, Hajin, and Aloosa, along with students from various schools across the district.
