Awantipora, April 10: During a naka checking conducted at Padgampora near Railway Station Awantipora, a police team headed by SHO PS Awantipora Inspector Ajaz Hmad apprehended two drug peddlers.
The accused have been identified as Faizan Yousuf Ganie S/o Mohd Yousuf Ganie, resident of Koil, Pulwama and Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi S/o Bashir Ahmad Sofi, resident of Washbugh, Pulwama.
During the search, approximately 29 grams of a heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 84/2026 under sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Awantipora, and further investigation is underway.
Police have reiterated their commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and urged the general public to cooperate in this fight.
