Bandipora, 21 Feb: Heavy snowfall in the Gurez Valley triggered a snow avalanche in Khandiyal area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora District on thursday evening.
Eyewitneses said many residential houses have come under the avalanche. However, no loss of life reported so far. Reports said that the avalanche hit Khandiyal village of Gurez area in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Officials had earlier issued avalanche warning in upper reaches of the valley. Fresh snowfall in many areas of Kashmir also led to the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
