Convener News Desk
Bandipora, Jan 13: As part of the National Road Safety Month celebrations, the ARTO Office Bandipora conducted a comprehensive road safety awareness drive aimed at sensitising two-wheeler riders about safe and responsible road behaviour.
During the campaign, riders were educated on the importance of strict adherence to traffic rules, with special emphasis on the mandatory use of helmets by both riders and pillion riders. Officials highlighted the need to observe prescribed speed limits, maintain lane discipline, and avoid risky practices such as drunken driving and the use of mobile phones while riding. Riders were also informed about the necessity of carrying valid documents, including driving licences, vehicle registration certificates, insurance papers, and pollution under control certificates.
The programme further focused on promoting defensive driving techniques and encouraging respect for pedestrians and other road users to ensure safer roads for all. The ARTO team interacted directly with two-wheeler riders, distributed awareness material, and offered on-the-spot guidance regarding traffic regulations and safety measures.
Riders were urged to adopt safe driving habits and to act as ambassadors of road safety within their communities, contributing collectively to the reduction of road accidents and the promotion of a culture of responsible driving.
