Army’s Key Logistics Depot in Kankinara Gets ISO 9001:2015 Accreditation
New Delhi, May 1: The Engineer Stores Depot (ESD), Kankinara, Army’s key logistics hub for procurement, provisioning, and warehousing of engineering stores, has been awarded the ISO 9001:2015 certification by the Indian Register Quality Systems. This marks an important upgrade from its previous ISO 9001:2000 accreditation.
As a crucial facilitator for supplying spares of earthmoving equipment, bridges, and engineer-origin stores to field units, formations, field workshops, and Army Base Workshops, ESD Kankinara plays a vital role in ensuring operational readiness and efficiency. The ISO 9001:2015 certification reinforces the depot’s commitment to international standards of quality management systems (QMS).
The certification recognizes ESD Kankinara’s adherence to fundamental principles of quality management, including leadership, people engagement, process-oriented operations, continuous improvement, and evidence-based decision-making. It also acknowledges the depot’s capabilities in risk management, internal distribution, and warehousing—key components for ensuring timely and effective supply chain functioning in military logistics.
With this upgraded certification, ESD Kankinara is now aligned with the latest industry norms, promising better decision-making support, improved performance, and higher satisfaction for end-user units across the Indian Army.
