Army says One Armed Militant Killed in Budgam Exchange of Fire

Budgam, Sep 4: The Indian Army on Friday said one armed individual was killed during an exchange of fire with security forces in the Ashdar Gali area of Budgam district, where a joint search operation was underway.

The operation was launched by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force following specific intelligence inputs about suspected movement in the area.

According to the Army, troops detected suspicious activity during the operation and challenged those present, following which firing broke out and led to an exchange of gunfire.

The Army said one armed individual was killed in the exchange, while an AK rifle and other war-like stores were recovered from the site.

The search operation was continuing in the area as security forces carried out further searches. [KNT]
