Srinagar, Feb 13: The Indian army on Tuesday organised an awareness lecture on road accidents in Doda district of Jammu region, Defence Spokesperson said here.
He said that "as a part of on-going process of educating the populace, campaign to raise awareness on traffic rules, an awareness lecture on Road Traffic Accidents was conducted for the youth and residents at Bhala"
"Due to sudden increase in road accidents in the region, a need was felt to take up an initiative for road safety and awareness drive, in which an interactive lecture and discussion was carried out among inhabitants for awareness and adherence of safety measures on traffic rules," he said.
He also said that a total of 47 residents attended the awareness lecture. Drivers were also made aware about road symbols and road etiquettes.
Sub Inspector, Traffic Police educated the drivers about the road marking and safety measures like wearing of seat belts, helmet and to avoid drunk driving. He also informed about the offences related to road safety and the penalties associated with them.
