Army felicitates visually impaired music Icon in Bandipora
Bandipora, 11 Feb: Bandipora Rashtriya Rifles on Tuesday felicitated a visually impaired singer in Bandipora with an aim to encourage and acknowledge his hardwork despite challenges.
An official spokesperson if 14-RR said in addition to outstanding performance, the army has also contributed immensely towards social development and mentoring of young budding talents in various fields. One such individual being periodically helped & mentored towards a brighter future is Muntazir Najar, a music icon in Bandipora.
Muntazir and two of his siblings suffer from a rare genetic disorder rendering them permanently visually impaired. However this challenge has not stopped Muntazir from aiming for the stars in field of music.
Spokesman said that Bandipora RR spotted the young protege in 2011 and has periodically helped him in multiple ways.
Muntazir is a resident of Gundpora Rampora village of Bandipora which is a remote village on the fringes of Bandipora town & stays in a modest house near a narrow canal. He and his siblings used to face a lot of difficulties in crossing the canal as there was only a footbridge with no side railings. "Bandipora RR constructed a small footbridge with railing especially for Muntazir and his siblings, " He added.
He said seeing his interest & talent in music he was also presented with a electronic keyboard to further hone his musical skills.
"Bandipora RR has continued it's steadfast support to him through numerous incentives and help in arranging his performances at various events.Muntazir has now come of age & is of 28 years now. He recently expressed his desire to be financially independent and also wanting to impart his musical skills with other youngsters & requested help in starting his own music classes".
Bandipora RR presented two high quality harmoniums to Muntazir today and also helped him in starting his own classes. Presently Muntazir is imparting music lessons to over 20 students & the number is expected to rise.
It is indeed a noble gesture of the Indian Army to inspire the underprivileged youth of Bandipora which will further enhance the trust and bonhomie between Awam & Jawan.
