Army Doctors go door to door in Gurez to treat patients

Bandipora, February 11: Indian Army stationed in snowbound Gurez valley near Line of Control on Friday went door to door in the valley to conduct medical checkup of patients.

          An official said to ameliorate the hardships being faced by the locals, ‘Doctor on Foot’ was conducted by the Army today at the remote Tamam village wherein an Army doctor carried out routine checkup of locals and distributed free medicines.  He said major ailments observed were Dental cavities, high BP, low back ache and common cold.

The doctor also visited few patients at their homes who were bedridden. The team also recommended various preventive measures to fight against prevailing Covid-19 and the significance of vaccination and the locals were educated about the significance of routine health check-ups. A total of 93 villagers including 42 male, 33 female and 18 children were benefited by the initiative.

          The locals appreciated the Army for extending  much required care to these remote villages especially during the harsh winters in the valley. The villagers requested the Army to regularly conduct such events and the Army has assured them of all possible medical assistance from all nearby posts of all villages on the line of control in the Gurez Valley.
