The 30 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army on Wednesday distributed facemasks among general public in Langate area of Kupwara district.
An official said the aim was to create awareness among the masses about the importance of using masks to prevent covid infection.
He said men and machinery of Indian Army has been geared up throughout the Qaziabad langate, Qalamabad and Haril monabal Areas to take up measures to control the spread of COVID in these areas.
Besides distribution of face masks at various public places of Qaziabad langate, cooperation sought by various market and transport associations Etc have been taken up.
"People without face masks are being provided with masks by the langate Army," he added.
He said the people are also requested to take COVID seriously and follow the SOP's so that its spread can be prevented. " 30RR langate requests that all measures as undertaken and briefed, may be extended support and cooperation".
