Army conducts Gram Sabha in Kanzalwan to discuss developmental projects

Bandipora, March 03: As part of the interaction programme with locals of Kanzalwan, Indian Army stationed at Kanzalwan organised a Gram Sabha at battalion headquarter to discuss implementation of developmental projects in the area in a planned approach.  

An official spokesperson of the unit said the Chairman Block Development Council along with Sarpanch and Panch of all the villages interacted with the Commanding Officer to understand the requirements and nuances of the functioning mechanism of each Panchayat and also discussed the follow up progress of last 3 months in the unit AOR.

            During the Gram Sabha, members of Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRI) discussed the steps to be taken to make Kanzalwan a tourism hub keeping in view its natural beauty and being the gateway of Gurez Valley.

The meeting also discussed the project Recruitment Initiative started earlier this year besides initiatives taken by army including empowerment of ladies , recruitment of fighting porters, Implementation of Swachyata Abhiyan in the AOR were discussed and blueprint for the complete upliftment plan on which the Bn shall embark upon in year 2022 were highlighted.

 During the discussions the villagers demanded more Sadbhavna flights for the region during winters and establishment of an Examination Centre for JKSSB at Gurez besides appealing to include Jalandhara and Chuntivari villages under RR villages to get benefits of extensive welfare activities conducted by the Battalion.

            “Local political leaders welcomed this initiative and highly appreciated the efforts made by the army towards ensuring holistic development of the society” spokesperson said, “Moreover, this quarterly interaction with locals will strengthen the bond between AWAM and Jawan while also making them an intrinsic and active part of the developmental plan for the area”.
