Army Assists in Rescue After School Bus Skids Into Nala at Manasbal

Manasbal, May 09: A potential tragedy was averted on Friday after the Indian Army swiftly rescued students and staff members of a Srinagar-based special school when their picnic bus skidded into a nala at Jharoka Bagh in Manasbal area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Officials said the bus, belonging to Shafaqat Special School Bemina, Srinagar, was carrying students and staff for a picnic outing when the vehicle lost control at around 11:30 am and skidded into a nearby nala.

Soon after the incident, troops from Manasbal RR Battalion Army Camp rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Army personnel safely evacuated all the students and staff members from the bus and provided immediate assistance on the spot.

The stranded vehicle was later recovered with the help of Army troops and locals. Officials said the timely response by the Army helped prevent any major injury or untoward incident.

The swift action of the troops was appreciated by the school authorities, parents and local residents, who thanked the Army for its humanitarian assistance and prompt response during the emergency.
