Anantnag, May 20: Continuing its intensified crackdown against drug trafficking and narcotics peddling, Anantnag Police achieved another success by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering contraband substance during naka checking at Dialgam.
A Police party from Police Post Dialgam had established a naka at Chechripora Bypass Crossing for routine checking. During the naka, one suspicious person coming from Anantnag towards Bondialgam attempted to flee after noticing the police party. However, the alert naka party apprehended him tactfully.
During his search, contraband substance, apparently heroin-like substance, was recovered from his possession. On questioning, the accused identified himself as Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar @ Christian son of Gull Mohammad Dar, resident of Nanil, Anantnag.
In this regard, FIR No. 149/2026 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act stands registered, and investigation has been set into motion.
Anantnag Police remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and urges the public to continue supporting the fight against drugs by sharing information regarding drug peddlers and illegal narcotics activities.
