SRINAGAR, Nov 29: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has assured the public that all hospitals in Kashmir are equipped with fully operational heating systems to ensure patient comfort and safety amid the ongoing winter season.
Sakina Itoo, Minister for Health & Medical Education, stated this in an exclusive conversation with Kashmir Convener, responding to public inquiries regarding heating arrangements in healthcare facilities.
“Hospitals across Kashmir have a proper heating system in place,” Minister Itoo stated. She emphasized that the current cold spell is a recurring seasonal event for which the administration prepares systematically. “It’s not as if the cold has arrived for the first time this year. Winter comes to Kashmir every year, and we make new arrangements annually to manage it effectively,” she added.
As temperatures continue to drop across the valley, authorities have activated heating systems in all hospitals to provide a comfortable environment for patients and their attendants.
Corroborating the minister’s assurance, a senior official from the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) told Kashmir Convener that all heating infrastructure is functioning as required.
“Heaters, air conditioners, and gas heaters are operating effectively in all critical areas, including labour rooms, operation theatres, and newborn care units,” the official stated.
Highlighting the administration’s proactive measures, the official added, “Given the unpredictable nature of our weather, we have established numerous alternative arrangements to be prepared for any contingency.”
