Sadunara/30 June :- Constructed 8 years ago, the condition of the Ajas-Hajin Road via Sadunara has deteriorated so much that even pedestrians feels unsafe walking on thgis road.
Local allege that the road constructed under PMGSY was left without maintenance as the road has been disowned by PMGSY soon after its construction and R&B department has not owned it since then.
Huge ditches and potholes have developed on the road which are detrimental to the lives of the commuters especially pregnant women and school going children who are compelled to travel on this road as the road is lone link for the residents of Sadunara. According to locals passenger vehicle owners are now refusing to ply on the road owing to the dilapidated condition of the road.
Locals told Kashmir Convener that, despite bringing into the notice of authorities several times from past so many years to repair the road, the plea of the locals has fallen on deaf ears. They threatened of taking to streets and protesting against the neglectful attitude of the concerned department who has the responsibility of maintaining the said road if their demands are not fulfilled in near future.
AEE concerned when contacted assured that the work on 4 KM stretch would be started soon as the DPR has already been submitted to the higher authorities on the directions of DC Bandipora ,he said.
