BANDIPORA, FEBURARY 01: National Conference leader and North Zone Secretary Advocate Nazir Ahmad Malik has expressed dismay over the continuous neglect of historic Ajas town of Bandipora district which has lead to series of hardships to people of Ajas.
In a statement issued today, Advocate Malik said Ajas is a large town located in Sonawari Tehsil of Bandipora district, with total 1908 families having population of 12961 souls including 6726 males and 6235 females as per Population Census 2011. He said the population as off now is more than twenty thousand.
Malik said Ajas town of Bandipora district is unfortunately a town that is not only backward as for as development is concerned but it also lags behind on every front. “From basic education to healthcare facility everything is absent on ground zero,” he added.
He said the successive governments has neglected this historic town and alleged that the mafia raj installed by the successive incompetent representatives has lead to backwardness of Ajas.
“From past one year, the only Higher Secondary School located in the town is without Principal while Education Department made no efforts to appoint the one for this Higher Secondary School despite repeated pleas from the locals” he said. “The burning demand for Degree College has fallen to deaf ears. Painfully enough, Education Department has also failed to provide a separate zone to the people of Ajas that have been fighting for it from past decade”.
Advocate Malik added that Ajas town of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district has been reeling under darkness in every winter – putting the villagers through “immense hardship” in harsh winters, due to the alleged negligence of Power Development Department (PDD) and this year too the masses are facing tremendous difficulties due to never ending load shedding.”
He vowed once voted to power NC Would change the face of historic Ajas town towards betterment.
