AIMSA vice president meets Iran envoy, conveys condolences on Khamenei’s demise

New Delhi, March 6: All India Medical Students Association vice president Dr Mohammad Momin Khan met Iran’s Ambassador to India Mohammad Fathali in New Delhi and conveyed condolences on the demise of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei.

During the meeting, Dr Khan expressed sympathies on behalf of members of the medical association and conveyed condolences to the people of Iran.

Officials said the interaction also focused on the safety and well being of Indian students and citizens currently present in Iran amid the prevailing situation in the region.

Dr Khan raised concerns regarding the condition of Indian nationals in Iran and requested coordination between the Embassy of Iran in India and the Embassy of India in Iran to facilitate their safe evacuation if required.

He said the matter was important as a number of Indian students and citizens are presently residing in Iran for educational and professional purposes.

During the discussion, Dr Khan also conveyed that doctors from the community associated with the organisation were ready to assist in humanitarian medical efforts if required.

He said medical professionals were willing to participate in humanitarian camps in Iran to provide support to affected people.

The meeting highlighted the role of medical professionals and community organisations in humanitarian assistance during crisis situations. [KNT]
